The DTES is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Vancouver, BC, Canada, as well as a historic part of the city. The DTES struggles with complex challenges including drug use, homelessness, affordable housing issues, unemployment and so on.
Having said that, the DTES is also known for its strong community resilience, history of social activism and artistic contributions. Many volunteers provide countless hours to help improve the community and for social justice.
